Empowering women and non-binary
people to create the life they choose
Introducing Juno
We are a proudly intersectional
feminist organisation.
Since 2002, Juno (formerly known as WISHIN) has been working with women and non-binary people in Melbourne’s north who are experiencing homelessness or family violence.
Our primary role is to support and advocate for individuals and their children. Our approach is non-judgemental, personalised and evidence-based to empower the people we work with to make lasting change in their lives. We use and develop progressive and creative responses to homelessness, gendered poverty and trauma.
Our staff are skilled in working with a diverse range of women and non-binary people, including those experiencing complex challenges such as trauma, mental illness or experience with the justice system. Juno partners with other community sector organisations to help our clients access specialist support and resources.
Juno is a proudly intersectional feminist organisation. We advocate to improve systems and structures which contribute to gendered poverty, homelessness and family violence.
HOMELESSNESS FOR WOMEN
Unique challenges of women
experiencing homelessness.
At Juno, we understand that the drivers of homelessness are complex and multifaceted. For women, homelessness issues also relate to issues of poverty, gender inequality and family violence, often coupled with mental health issues and trauma.
